Founded in 1992 by microbiologist and immunologist Dr. Myron Wentz, USANA Health Sciences is a science-based company that develops scientifically advanced nutritional, personal-care, and weight management products. The name "USANA" derives from Greek and Latin and means "true health."

Myron Wentz, PhD., is a world-renowned researcher and innovator in cellular technology. An internationally recognized pioneer in the use of human cell culture, Dr. Wentz has continued his devotion to developing state-of-the-art scientific products to improve the lives of people around the world. In the early 1970s, Dr. Wentz founded Gull Laboratories and spent 20 years developing products that would be used to accurately diagnose viral and other infectious diseases. He is best known in the diagnostic arena for having created the Epstein Barr and Mononucleosis viral tests kits used in hospitals world-wide today. It was through his work to keep human cell cultures alive for extended lengths of time that Dr. Wentz developed a line of dietary supplements that rewrote the standard of excellence in the nutritional industry. Dr.Wentz was named Utah 2003 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and awarded the Albert Einstein Award in 2007.
